Hello, my name is Maryah Thomas and I am the chief instructor and creator of The Massagenist educational seminars. 

 

My educational background is in counseling and human services. I attended the State University of New York at Plattsburgh and received an MS in counseling. The most revealing moments of my time as a counselor showed me the power of human touch.  Just reaching out and holding a hand, giving a hug, or simply sitting in total unconditional acceptance with someone were powerful ways to connect.

 

I felt an insistent urge coming from within to change career paths, and in 1997 moved to Central Florida where I attended the Wood Hygienic Institute of Massage and Colon Therapy. I have had the most wonderful and diverse experiences as a therapist and have worked in clinics, lavish spas, fitness centers, massage schools and with private clients.   My passion and my life work revolves around my firm belief that massage creates a bridge toward understanding and healing ourselves and one another.

The Massagenist Educational Seminars are designed not only to promote the longevity of your career as a therapist by focusing on techniques which maximize your body mechanics but are also underscored with my philosophy that energy follows intent, and everything is connected.  I prefer Asian modalities and my classes are a fusion of certifications and classes I have taken as well as techniques I have developed. As always, I learn from every therapist who attends my classes and look forward to the fresh exchange of ideas every time I teach.
